well, I guess upon seeing the movie I really dont have enough background to identify what is really the reason why Helen choose to be Helen of troy. As to the case of Helen,I strongly believe that she is indeed a great person, a courageous one and a woman that mirrors sacrifice.We all know that she was already married when she fall in love with Paris, the prince of troy.We can't blame Helen if she chose to go with him. Maybe because she no longer feel the spark of love between her and Menelaus, her husband. If she still love her husband, it will be much a suicidal attempt by the time she leaved him. Love is all that really involved. That causes sorrow and death to a thousand of warriors in the story of "ILIAD".Love leads to a war between the Trojans and Spartans. A beautiful lady named Helen of Sparta that have been committed to Menelaus and betrayed him and she live to a Trojan Prince named Paris. I think its because the affections of Helen fades away as she did not felt the happiness to Menelaus as they where living together. So she have found love to Paris that she didn't experience to Menelaus. That is what Menelaus cant bare to accept, that her beloved Helen went to a Trojan Prince. So by his will to get Helen's back it started to open the war between them.

If we think of a partner for the rest of our lives we must make sure that we are comportable and happy of living with him/her because it would really affect your life if your not happy and comportable, sometimes it can lead you into a complicated world.
In the case of Helen I can't blame her that she leaves Minelaus because as I observe to her; she is not happy living with Minelaus. Even though that we would say that what they have done witn Paris is a great mistake but still true love will always riegn. Helen also sacrifices so many things most especially her family but she is also very lucky becuase he had Paris and his family who is willing to accept her and fight for her. She is really a lucky girl not just physically but also to her lovelife....

The movie shows Menelaus as an old man and unattractive man. maybe Helen rather have the handsome and young prince of Troy than an old and ugly king as a husband. But Greek Mythology show how powerful the love that Aphrodite gave to Helen for Paris and vice versa. I don't think so that Helen haven't seen the danger of her doings, but surely she was just so madly in love with Paris that time. Zeus could not even the rush of love he felt to Europa when Cupid shot his arrow unto him. Zeus is the king of heaven, yet cannot resist the power of the god of love. How much more Hera and Paris?
For me, maybe the reason why Helen choose to be Helen of Troy is because of her beauty and love for Paris.
Maybe Helen did not love Menelaus that is why she decided to go with Paris.And she already know the consequences of living in the Troy still she go continue it.
Helen is already commited to Menelaus but still he choose to have an affair to Paris and leave her husband. I think one reason is all about love. He found the true love from Paris and decided to be with him. And be the Helen of Troy.

In the story of Iliad, Paris was to choose the most fairest among the goddesses Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. Each goddess had offered him a bribe. Paris chose Aphrodite which her bribe is when Paris chooses her, she will give her the most beautiful woman which is Helen.
It is the reason why that Helen go with Paris...
But in the movie Troy, it is shown that Helen and Paris is truly in love with each other. Helen was only forced to marry Menelaus. That's why she left Menelaus for her newly discovered love.
She went back to Menelaus after the Trojan war I think it is because she was used in their place, Sparta and to live a life of comfort but without her love...
because helen found a true love for paris,so therefore she choose to be with paris and be called helen of troy.

As what I have been understood in the story ,Troy, Helen told Paris that ever since she has not been home in Sparta. Maybe the situation that led him to Paris might make her think that it's her chance to flee away from Sparta and that she found her happiness in Troy. Well, I don't think it was Helen's fault that there was a Trojan war. Because in the beginning, it was Zeus who planned the war anyway.
For me, the reason why helen did not accept the love of menelaus because helen cannot gave her love to menelaus. and i think helen choose paris because not only he is handsome but a god heart and a good man she ever meet.
Basing on the movie i could say that the reason Helen left Menelaus because first and foremost she did not love Menelaus. Its hard to be with someone you don't like. And i believe that love conquers all no matter the race or whatever if there is love.

The beauty of Helen is man dream of. She refused to live with Menelaus and choosed to be the Helen of Troy in several reasons. One of those is, she love Paris and she is willing to be cursed rather than living with the man that she doesnt love at all. Yet, she is considered as the troublemaker because she is the rteason why there is a battle between Troy and Greece.

Helen indeed is the most beautiful woman among all women [in the story Iliad]. She may have married a man of great power and treasury [Menelaus] still he chooses to runaway with Paris and considered him as the love of his life. The reasons maybe are:
a. Helen at age of 16 has already married Menelaus [who was way too older than her]. She seemed to be trapped with this verdict that she was not able to experience sweet, young, passionate love, which he saw and experienced with Paris. In other words Helen perhaps was driven by ‘lust’, the fling and flame that she could no longer consider Menelaus have.
b. Menelaus as her husband was polygamous, cuddling other women even in front of her, a considered illness most kings and great warriors possess. The act was so degrading in the part of her being a wife and a woman. Feeling weak and disappointed about it, here comes Paris showing her what its like to be the only one being loved. There is always a point in women’s life that they search for someone whom will love them, most especially will consider them as the only woman of that someone’s life and there must be no other.

Helen's reasons for leaving Menelaus might be because she really never did love Menelaus ever since they were married. When Helen was still 16 yrs. old her parents gave her to Menelaus as a payment for all their debts. She married Menelaus at a very young age.
And the reason for deciding to be known as Helen of Troy is truly the biggest decision she had made. Leaving his husband for Paris means starting the greatest war that could happen in the history. Her love for Paris was a risk but she took that risk anyway. Her love is unconditional that she launched a thousand ships that made Troy fall to the ground.

For me, Helen has nothing to do with the chaos between Troy and Sparta although at first it was the reason, but how can you blame someone who is in love.
We do a lot of crazy things when were in love and sometimes we forget of using our mind. i can't blame Helen if she really wanted to be with Paris risking everything. Love will conquer all but that time was different.
It was the greed and pride of Menelaus and Agamemnon that brought them to Troy.

I can say that Helen just followed her heart.Because i think, helen and Paris are the ones destined to be with,.It really causes chaos but we can deny the fact that love moves in mysterious way.I like what helen did because if i were her also i will do it.because i'd rather die,being killed,with the one i truely loved than playing safe yet the heart keeps bleeding ,regreting and udergoing internal hemorrhage.....
