Faithfulness Defined (Iliad)

People who are in love and who are planning to be in love have different expectations regarding relationships. They imagine or come up with different sets of standard, but one thing certain all of them include FAITHFUL as one of the adjectives describing the man/woman they would love. Here are some quotations of faithfulness.

Confidentiality is a virtue of the loyal, as loyalty is the virtue of faithfulness.
Edwin Louis Cole
Marriage has a unique place because it speaks of an absolute faithfulness, a covenant between radically different persons, male and female; and so it echoes the absolute covenant of God with his chosen, a covenant between radically different partners.
Rowan D. Williams
Nothing is more noble, nothing more venerable than fidelity. Faithfulness and truth are the most sacred excellences and endowments of the human mind.
Marcus Tullius Cicero

If the above quoted statements are the idea of the quoted geniuses, i wonder what your personal definition of faithfulness is.

In my own understanding and opinion, faithfulness is an act of being true and honest to one's promises; the value of trustworthiness really matters and thus exists especially in relationships. Being faithful to each other makes up a strong, happy, and contented life.

For me, faithfulness is a sweet word where it also need responsibility. Having the faith to love someone truly and sincerely. Just like on how we have faith in God. We have to value and trust the one we love. We should also be contented to the one we love for it will always give us the real and unconditional happiness. It will always be a fulfillment being faithful to the our love.

My personal definition of faithfulness is that "faithfulness s the equality of love".
If you hate someone you will never have time to be faithful to him/her. But beyond distance and beyond time faithfulness is endless when you are genuinely in love.

And yes....
I agree that faithfulness is the ability to resist any form of temptation. And that the act of faithfulness is measured of how depth the love is. Though temptation is everywhere and being a part of man's life, but because of love and faith, to give in into temptation could be never.

Faithfulness
“Understanding human nature: its imperfections."

An absolute commitment yet is ready to accept imperfections and is willing to give forgiveness. Sees not what is expected and cares what there is to care.

Faithfulness is about staying true, sticking and committed to what you have said or promised in a relationship, through thick and thin. It is also about being a person of integrity - you are who you are, the same person whether you're with the person you love or you're with other people. You're not a chameleon or a person with a multiple image or personality. It also means, being depended upon, can be relied on at all times.

It maybe illustrated with one's faithfulness to his promises, marriage vows, faithfulness to the activities, events, and many others...
